Valve selection
Applicable scenarios of manual high vacuum ISO flange ball valve
A manual vacuum ball valve primarily provides opening, closing and isolation. Its presence in a vacuum line does not establish precision gas-flow or pressure regulation. Fine control requires a suitable throttling element, measurement and control arrangement.
Identify the actual ISO connection series, nominal size and clamping or bolted arrangement. A shared ISO label does not replace a connection drawing, seal specification or installation-length comparison.
Body, seat and stem seals affect chemical compatibility, temperature and gas load. Material names alone do not establish the leak performance of the assembled valve; compare the complete supplied configuration.
State whether the valve will encounter process gas, cleaning agents, particles or condensate. Clean handling and any permitted lubricant or bakeout procedure must suit the seal and process rather than a general vacuum designation.
Specify the test gas, temperature, pressure direction, boundary and permitted leak rate with units. External leakage and leakage across a closed seat are different tests; an instrument detection limit is not a measured valve leak rate.
Allow access for the handle, seal replacement and removal of the valve. Before opening a vacuum boundary, isolate the connected process and account for residual hazardous fluid and possible pressure recovery.
In the field of nuclear energy, high vacuum ISO flange ball valves can be used in nuclear reactors and fuel processing equipment to control and regulate gas flow and pressure in vacuum systems.
Compare the actual ISO connection series, installation length, seals, fluid, temperature and agreed leak-test conditions. Pump performance, line conductance, leakage and outgassing all affect achievable system pressure; the valve name alone does not establish system vacuum performance.
Customer questions
The ISO flange fits. Is the replacement fully compatible?
Also compare installation length, seals, temperature, fluid and specified leak-test conditions. A matching connection does not establish vacuum performance.
Does pressure rise after isolation prove seat leakage?
No. External leaks, outgassing and other connected paths can contribute. Define the test boundary before locating the source.
Can I lubricate every vacuum seal to improve sealing?
No. Lubrication must suit the seal, fluid and cleanliness requirements. An unsuitable lubricant may increase contamination or gas load.
