Valve selection
What is the difference between protection and explosion-proof of electric valve IP? Verify outdoor and hazardous areas separately
IP level focuses on shell protection, while explosion-proof focuses on ignition risk control in corresponding hazardous environments. Outdoor and hazardous areas should be provided with separate conditions, and a high IP number should not be used as a substitute for explosion-proof signs and certificates.

Shell protection solves the problem of water and dust ingress
The actuator housing, cover, wiring inlet, and seal jointly affect environmental protection. The cable entry and accessories in actual installation also need to meet the matching requirements, and cannot be based solely on the host nameplate. When it comes to immersion, there should also be corresponding depth, time, and conditions, and a IP number should not be understood as any long-term underwater use. Outdoor rain, cleaning spray, and immersion are different scenarios that should be described separately.
The requirements for hazardous areas are not derived from the IP level
Explosion proof applicability involves equipment explosion-proof types, hazardous area classification, gas or dust conditions, temperature groups, etc. The product name should be labeled as explosion-proof, and the actual actuator and accessory certificates and labels need to be verified. The FB941F product page has the BT4 logo, but it cannot be extended to another gas group or certified without proof. The technical review of the project should correspond to the regional conditions, equipment identification, and valid certificates item by item, and attachments should not be omitted.
Separate recording of process temperature and external environmental temperature
The fact that the liquid receiving part of the valve body can withstand a certain temperature does not mean that the motor, electronic module, and seal can be at the same ambient temperature. Solar radiation, equipment heat sources, and medium thermal conductivity can all alter the conditions surrounding the actuator. The surface temperature requirements for hazardous environments cannot be replaced by the temperature resistance of valve body materials. It is advisable to separately list the medium temperature, ambient temperature, and installation location for inquiry, so that the drive and valve body have clear basis for each.
Corrosion prevention and accessories are additional integrity conditions
Salt spray, chemical gases, or flushing liquids may affect the casing, fasteners, and feedback accessories. Explosion proof certificate cannot replace the selection of external corrosion-resistant materials, and high IP does not mean that all chemicals will not corrode the seal. Delivery acceptance should include the host, cable entry, position feedback, and other electrical accessories as actual combinations for verification. One host certificate cannot cover all attachments from different sources and configurations.

Dividing the procurement table of electric valves into three columns: liquid handling conditions, environmental protection, and explosion-proof applicability can reduce the mixing index. Each column must correspond to the actual configuration, and no label can cover the other two items.

Common customer questions
Can IP68 electric ball valve be used in explosion-proof areas?
We cannot make such a judgment. IP requires independent evidence applicable to hazardous areas due to different conditions of explosion-proof concern.
Can the product name be written as BT4 to purchase according to CT4?
No, we cannot expand the scope of application of the actual identification. We should compare the supplied actuators and valid certificates.
Can the valve body transport heat medium and the actuator also be at the same high temperature?
Cannot be equated. The process temperature and ambient temperature are respectively limited by the valve body, drive, and electronic components.
